General Conditions

Be advised that this is a new national monument. Amenities are limited and signage is sparse.

• Cell phone reception can be spotty or non-existent.
• Roads to and within the monument are gravel and rough with ruts, potholes, and edged with sharp rocks.
• Be cautious of logging trucks on the way into the monument!
• Vehicles with higher clearance are recommended.

Winter Conditions

Visiting in the winter? Most of the monument is unable to be reached by vehicles during the winter. The only plowed and maintained parking area is at the North Gate. We recommend visitors to park at the North Gate parking area to start their snowshoe or cross country winter adventures. Remember to check the local weather conditions before visiting.
