August 6 @ 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Age group: Youth entering 6th through 11th grades.
Take on a moderately challenging 4-mile hike up Barnard Mountain for sweeping views of Katahdin and the surrounding woods and waters. This steeper climb follows an old logging road, offering a chance to talk about the region’s history as a working forest and its transformation into public land. Students will challenge themselves, build resilience, and experience one of the monument’s best summit views.
