During this overnight trip, students in grades 6–10 will camp near our Stars Over Katahdin event and experience the darkest night skies east of the Mississippi. As part of the public event, they’ll explore hands-on activity stations, listen to campfire talks, enjoy live music, and view the night sky through powerful telescopes alongside experienced astronomers. Beyond the public festivities, students will enjoy an overnight experience designed just for them, with campfire time and private lessons led by naturalists and astronomers. They’ll discover the science of the night sky, hear the stories behind the stars, and make long lasting memories.
