This project involves collecting fecal pellets from suitable habitats to detect potential northern bog lemmings. NPS will collect samples from wetland areas throughout the monument, primarily bogs dominated by sphagnum moss. NPS will use protocols established by the Maine Division of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. DNA analysis will be completed by a university researcher. Next steps will depend on whether we detect any northern bog lemmings.
