Funding provided to grade, brush, and ditch visitor use roads, particularly in the South to support the opening of the new visitor contact station. Funds will support three positions per year. These positions include an Engineering Equipment Operator to lead and operate heavy machinery and two roads’ laborers to run smaller equipment, brush, ditch, mow, re-deck bridges, replace culverts and fill potholes. The remainder will be used to rent a grader and purchase materials such as bridge decking, hardware, gravel, and culverts. To date, funds have: filled incalculable amount of potholes, redecked 10 bridges, patched Whetstone Bridge multiple times, brushed 8 miles of road, cleared many blowdowns, picked up trash from winter snowmobile use, mowed 30 miles of road shoulders, fixed multiple washouts, Graded Kelloch Mountain Road, replaced 6 culverts, installed 2 beaver deceivers, performed spring maintenance of roads to make them passable.
