Friends of Katahdin Woods & Waters is seeking a Development Coordinator to join a dynamic team committed to supporting the National Park Service and Katahdin region communities.
The Development Coordinator is critical to ensuring successful membership efforts, database management, and fundraising events, with a key supporting role in communications. For general management and support, this position works under the supervision of the Development Director.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and bring a passion for donor engagement and the mission of Friends.
POSITION DETAILS
- Location: Reports to Portland, Maine or Patten, Maine – hybrid (some office, remote, and travel requirements)
- Classification: Full-time, Exempt
- Schedule: 40 hours/week; Monday – Friday (some nights and weekends)
- Annual Salary: $60,000 – 70,000

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Database and Recordkeeping
- Manage meticulous records for all donations and deposits
- Individual Giving and Membership
- Manage primary stewardship activities for donors up to $1,000
- Support Development Director as needed with major gift fundraising
- Coordinate and implement annual campaigns with Development Director
- Support continuing evolution of fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Development Team
- Support Development Director in cultivating a Development Committee and Board that have clear responsibilities within fundraising strategy

- Help establish annual mix of events that meets fundraising targets and member engagement goals
- Lead development event logistics, including interfacing with venues and contractors, and working within established budgets
- Connect members and corporate sponsors to relevant events, including supporting FKWW volunteer needs
- Represent FKWW at relevant external events to help grow our network

- Help coordinate email and print campaigns across teams
- Contribute to creation of print and digital promotional materials, which may include social media
- Post new website content as assigned (e.g. WordPress blog and events pages)
- Operations (5%)
- Participate in and contribute to team meetings, staff discussions, and projects to help continually improve the organization
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree (4 year degree)
Experience Level: 2-5 years
Knowledge/Experience/Skills: Primary experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or communications and marketing. Related experience in conservation, with rural communities, with tribal communities, or with public lands, is welcomed. Knowledge of donor CRM software, Google Workspace, and graphic design. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
